My new Kickstarter is live!
almost 4 years ago – Wed, Jun 10, 2020 at 06:00:46 PM

Hi,

I wanted to let you know that my new Kickstarter is live right now.

Kickstarter link

This time I'm back with four NEW novels.

You backed my Godsverse Chronicles universe earlier this year, which I hope you loved. My summer slate is full of the books I wrote to help me develop the style for the Godsverse. If you loved these books, then I hope you'll check out my summer slate.

These summer slate books are really important to me. I wrote them between other projects to explore new methods of writing, and new themes. They helped turn me into the writer I am today.

Worst Thing in the Universe is the book that really codified who I was as a writer. It was my father's favorite book I ever wrote, and for years it was my guiding star as I build the Godsverse and beyond. It's like Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy if Chuck Palahniuk wrote it.

The Void Calls Us Home is my most personal book since Sorry for Existing. It is a deep mediation on living with depression, couched in a YA Lovecraftian horror/fantasy novel. If you loved the depth of Sorry for Existing and have been more of that from me, then I highly recommend this book. It really helped me flush what it meant to live inside my head out onto the page, and finishing it helped massively with my own mental health. If you like Lovecraft of dark horror, you'll love this one.

The Marked Ones was written at a time when I was trying to soften my books a bit. I had been told that my work was too violent and profanity laced, and so I wanted very badly to keep the edge but lose some of the things that turned people off about my work, and if you like Harry Potter mixed with dystopian, then you're going to flip for this book. If you're a fan of Harry Potter or dystopian, then you'll dig this one.

Finally, Invasion was my palette cleanser book. I wanted to write something fun and light-headed, which was against my better nature. When the rest of my work beats you down a bit, Invasion is a light summer read, written in third person, and filled with all the weirdness of a narrator from Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, or Douglas Adams.

Together these books helped me explore what it meant to be a writer, and more importantly, what it meant to be a Russell Nohelty.

PLUS, if you back today you'll get three other awesome ebooks, including Andy Peloquin's awesome Trial of Stone, S.E. Anderson's incredible Starstruck, and Lily Luchesi's stunning The Coven Princess, along with Plastic Girl by Jessica Maison, one of my favorites.

That's just so many awesome books.

I can't wait to see you behind the backer wall again.

Cthulhu is Hard to Spell: The Terrible Twos ends in just a couple days
about 4 years ago – Sun, Mar 22, 2020 at 02:23:24 PM

Hi!

This is a quick note to let you know that my newest campaign, for the Cthulhu is Hard to Spell: The Terrible Twos anthology is going to end on Thursday, so this is about your last chance to get in on the campaign.

Cthulhu is Hard to Spell: The Terrible Twos contains thirty-eight all-ages appropriate stories from 73 creators about the gods and monsters of the Lovecraft universe. Yes, there is horror, but there are also silly stories, funny stories, sci-fi stories, whimsical stories, and slice of life stories as well. The focus is on the gods and monsters themselves, with plenty of psychological and cosmic horror thrown into the mix, too.

Inside its pages, you will find stories about Hastur conquering the world through the power of the internet, humanity slowly going mad at the sight of Azathoth, gods trying to win cultists to their side, humanity making friends and enemies of the gods, monsters coming back from the deep, psychological tales of horror and intrigue, and much more.

Featuring stories by Paul Jenkins (Spider-man), Ray-Anthony Height (Wakanda Forever), Tony Donley (Myths and Legends), Christian Gossett (The Red Star), plus dozens of artists who have worked for My Little Pony, Invader Zim, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Image, Vertigo, DC, and many more of your indie favorites.

We're also hosting a live stream Cthulhu is Hard to Spell RPG at 1pm PDT/ 4 pm EDT today where five of us will be playing as characters from our stories.

It should be a ton of fun. I hope we'll see you there and behind the backer wall.
